The seminar has demonstrated its effectiveness in the education of Mongolian veterinarians in improving the quality of veterinary care to the Mongolia race horses and other livestock. It is through this teaching and mentoring that we have been able to show that we care about these people and have established trust. This trust has earned us “the right to be heard”, to introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Fast Horse Seminar

Prior to the seminar, many veterinarians could only offer “traditional” medical treatments to the herders’ horses that included blood acupuncture, “cutting’, splenic acupuncture and nasal vodka. Dr. Juergens and Haffner have taught preventive horse care, veterinary business and ethics, treatment and diagnosis of colic, dehydration, parasitism, wounds, dentistry, infectious diseases and lameness.

Who We Are

American equine veterinarians, Dr. Tom Juergens and Dr.Johnny Haffner, along with Mongolia resident veterinarian, Dr. Gerald Mitchum, developed the "Fast Horse" seminar in 2000 to meet the needs of the remote herders and veterinarians and have continued to teach and organize the seminar every summer.

Our mission: To model the love of Jesus Christ through veterinary medicine, establishing trusting relationships in order to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our vision: To reach all the people of Mongolia with the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Romans 10:14 and 15 “How, then, can they call on the one of whom they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?”
